DIRECT COVERS: ACTUAL STATUS AND PROSPECTS

Author:   C. Foury
Keywords:   cover set up, diffusion, effects on the crops, prospects
Abstract:
Direct covers represent the simplest way to protect crops. Their peculiarity consists in applying a thin layer of plastic material directly on the plant. The unwoven fabric is used more without support, that is to say directly on the canopy. The advantages are not so important, but so evident to justify the use of direct covers on shallow crops in different areas. After a short presentation of the aspects related to a correct set up of the covers, the data concerning the diffusion, the various crops to protect as well as the constraints and the prospects of the technique are discussed.
