Abstract:
This article reviewed the advances in research of modern biotechnology on kiwifruit, which mostly summarized the leaf culture, stem segment culture, shoot tip culture, endosperm culture, embryo culture, protoplast culture and fusion, gene engineering and so on.
The application of DNA molecular mark on genetic diversity and gender identification were also involved.
The isolated and cloned target genes in transgenic kiwifruit were mostly storage-resistant and related to fruit development and fruit ripening.
Agrobacterium mediated transformation system was widely used, and PEG mediated transformation system or particle bombardment system is also involved for obtaining transgenic kiwifruit.
Modern biotechnology is believed to be a major means of kiwifruit breeding, and bring the kiwifruit industry with an exciting future.
This paper also put forward some existing problems and prospects for modern biotechnology study of kiwifruit.
