Abstract:
The new cultivar ‘Wancui’ was a natural mutant found in Actinidia deliciosa cv. ‘Hayward’. Had been studied for seven years the budding and leaf expansion of ‘Wancui’ was 3~5 days earlier, and the beginning of shoot growth was 6 days earlier, and flowering was 3 days earlier than those of its stock plant, Hayward.
It was significant that the bloom of the new cultivar became full matching with the pollinating cultivar, ‘Tomuri’. The main economic characters of ‘Wancui’ were better than that of Hayward, such as the yield, fruit weight, quality and flavor.
Rate of fruit set in ‘Wancui’ was 24% higher, and of which the yield was 30% higher than that in ‘Hayward’.
