| Abstract:
Blueberry growing in The Netherlands started in 1923 but did not become important. Since blueberries make higher demands on soils than was realized at first, yields were often poor. In addition, blueberry culture requires a high investment and a long establishment period. Research on blueberries is limited in The Netherlands. In a spacing trial, the highest number of plants per ha gave the highest yield. In the ISHS variety trial, the American varieties proved to be highly susceptible to stem canker by Godronia cassandrae. The European Goldtraube selections were highly resistant. Selections H I and G 71 gave the best results. | |
