Abstract:
Derived from the multiplex marker system AFLP, we have developed for the grapevine genome, sequence-specific amplification polymorphism (S-SAP) markers, based on the location of retrotransposons relative to adjacent restriction endonuclease sites.
Insertional polymorphisms of three grapevine retrotransposons have been assessed within a set of 16 accessions of grapevine (species and varieties). Efficiency of the S-SAP fingerprinting has been compared to microsatellite markers.
S-SAPs enable to distinguish between all of the tested genotypes.
The topology of each resulting phenogram is unique, however, with obvious similarities.
