Abstract:
At the viticulture experiment station in Sremski Karlovci (the Vojvodina Province), we started with interspecies hybridization in mid-1970's.
Wishing to combine resistance and quality, we made several generations of successive crossings.
Conventional methods of sexual hybridisation were employed.
In this paper we analyze a successful cross combination made in 1990, which rendered several prospective genotypes with high wine quality and good resistance to main fungal diseases.
The lineage of this seedling generation included over 90% of Vitis vinifera and small portions of Vitis amurensis and North American species.
