Abstract:
Clones of three cDNA libraries originating from Vitis vinifera cv.
REGENT were partially sequenced and annotated.
About 40 % of the ESTs were homologous to sequences of proteins with unknown function or did not show significant homology compared to database entries.
PCR-amplificates of the cDNAs were spotted onto nylon membranes and the resulting high density DNA array consisting of 1900 cDNAs was used for transcriptional profiling experiments.
Leaf mRNA used for complex hybridisation probes obtained from REGENT plants exposed to water stress revealed several transcripts to be significantly up or down-regulated being candidate genes for further investigations.
One of the candidate genes, homolog to rd22, a protein known to be responsive to drought, was mapped in a REGENT x LEMBERGER population.
