| Abstract:
A chloroform extract of the seeds of Ailanthus altissima, after silica gel column chromatography, gave two new sterols, named ailanthusterol A and ailanthusterol B. Their structures have been established as stigmast-5, 20(21)-diene-3  -ol and stigmast-5-ene-3-21-diol on the basis of spectral data analysis and chemical reactions
