Pear is a traditional fruit crop in Eastern Europe (Bulgaria, The Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Russia, and Serbia) but typically is far less important than apple or plum. Fireblight caused by Erwinia amylovora is becoming important as a limiting factor in the production of pear in this region. | |
