Abstract:
Performance of the two new Polish pear cultivars Bojniczanka and Hnidzik was compared with the standard ‘Conference’ during 1990-98 on a site located in Central Poland.
In the experiment ‘Bojniczanka’ trees were significantly smaller and more productive than ‘Conference’ and ‘Hnidzik’. The fruits taste and appearance were evaluated after cold storage.
The panellists ranked ‘Bojniczanka’ higher in appearance than the two other cultivars tested.
Its fruits were as tasty as ‘Conference’ whereas ‘Hnidzik’ received the lowest scores for both appearance and taste.
