Abstract:
An economic analysis of the main pear production areas in Italy, France and Spain reveals a competitive advantage – mostly due to lower costs – for Spain as opposed to Italy and France.
Because of these difficulties, Italy’s dominant position of yesteryear is changing.
A similar analysis is presented for one of the major pear-growing districts in China.
