Abstract:
This paper describes the characteristics of ‘Maria Anna’ and ‘Maria Lucia’, two new white flesh nectarines, obtained in 1986 from E. Bellini, University of Florence by crossing ‘Maria Aurelia x Snow Queen.’ These two new cultivars are very similar in their agronomic and pomological traits, differing mainly by ripening time.
Their trees are of standard vigour, are highly and constantly productive; their fruits are of medium large size, round shaped and with a bright skin; the flesh has a fine texture and the taste is very good.
Their commercial characteristics are equal to those of the excellent yellow nectarine cultivars.
