EFFECT OF IBA, PLANTING MEDIA AND TYPE OF CUTTING ON ROOTING OF NEMAGUARD PEACH ROOTSTOCK UNDER EGYPTIAN CONDITIONS

Abstract:
Two separate experiments with Nemaguard peach rootstock were carried out for two successive seasons of 1996 and 1997 to determine the optimum IBA concentration, the best media and the best cutting type for rooting.
IBA treatment at 6000 ppm gave the highest rooting percentage compared with 4000 and 2000 ppm.
The mixture of coarse sand + peat-moss gave higher rooting percentage than peat-moss or coarse sand alone.
The type of cuttings seemed to also play an important role in rooting of Nemaguard peach rootstock.
In this respect it was found that the basal cuttings were better than median and apical ones.
Data are tabulated on the rooting percentage, number of roots/cutting and survival (%).
