NEW ORNAMENTAL DWARF PEACH TREE VARIETIES IN ROMANIA

Abstract:
Between 1980-2000, at the Fruit Research Station, Constanta and the University of Agronomic Sciences and Veterinary Medicine, Bucharest many varieties, hybrids and selections of ornamental dwarf peach tree were studied. Among them Floria, H-P/6, Garden Beauty, V.T. - F sel. 89 P.O., H-P/4, V.T.-G.B. - sel. 86 N.O., V.T. 84-G-08 were remarked due to the tree habit, the long blossoming period, the double flowers nice colored in pink, red, or carmine. In 2000, two new valuable ornamental dwarf peach varieties, ‘Paul’ (a dwarf peach tree) and ‘Dan’ (a dwarf nectarine tree) were registered.
