Abstract:
The Battistini Nursery owns a large tissue culture (T.C.) laboratory and produces all peach rootstocks by micropropagation.
This production is supported by an intense and constant experimentation aimed at improving propagation techniques.
Each clone needs specific experimentation, therefore the improvement of the techniques is quite expensive.
The peach rootstocks micropropagated in large scale are the following: Ishtarą®, GF 677, Penta®, Tetra®, MrS 2/5, Fire®, Cadaman®, Barrier 1®, Adarą®, Gensia and Julior®. Experimentation was carried out to balance the components of the medium to favor the phase of propagation and rooting, and to improve the acclimatization technique.
Comparison of peach rootstocks shows remarkable differences: the micropropagation of some is very easy, while the micropropagation of others is quite difficult.
Different degrees of survival are often found in various phases of acclimatization, which for some clones makes it rather difficult to optimize micropropagation procedures.
