Abstract:
Commercially viable almond yields (2000-2500 kg/ha kernels) of four cultivars were produced on Marianna 2624 plum rootstock employing a hedgerow planting design planted in the central valley of California.
The ’Padre‘ cultivar produced the highest kernel yields followed by ‘Ruby’, ‘Mission’ (Texas), and ‘Butte”. No typical incompatibilty symptoms nor tree loss occurred on any cultivar but considerable marginal leaf necrosis accompanied by branch and whole tree stunting was found on ‘Butte’ trees in some years.
