Abstract:
A virus has been isolated from young leaves and roots of cuttings of Rhamnus frangula showing chlorotic rings.
Based on its host range, physical properties and the morphology of the particles the virus has been identified as an isolate of alfalfa mosaic virus (AMV). The virus has been purified and observed in ultrathin sections of roots of R. frangula cuttings.
This is the first report of AMV from R. frangula.
