Abstract:
New Japanese pear cultivars ‘Akiakari’, ‘Shuurei’, ‘Akizuki’ and ‘Oushuu’ were released by NIFTS in 1998 and 2000. All these cultivars are offsprings of ‘Nijisseiki’ and are characterized by high quality, high resistance to black spot disease and appropriate harvesting time with excellent fruit taste. ‘Akiakari’, ‘Shuurei’, ‘Akizuki’ and ‘Oushuu’ ripen around the end of August, late August to early September, end of September, and end of October in Tsukuba city, respectively.
The fruits have a russet skin, except ‘Shuurei’.
