Abstract:
Demand and prices for Asian pears increased rapidly in recent years which promoted Asian pear cultivation in Canada.
The results of variety trails in British Columbia indicated that Asian pears can be cultivated with similar crop management as European pears except extra caution is needed during harvest and post-harvest handling.
It is a promising new alternative crop with high economic values for farmers looking for alternative crops in their orchards.
