Author:   A. Godini
Keywords:   Olive (Olea europaea var. sativa L.), Apulia, traditional oliveculture, training system.
Abstract:
The geographical coordinates of Apulia (South-east Italy) are 39°50’/42°00’ latitude north and 14°50’/18°30’ longitude east. From north-west to south-east Apulia extends for over 400 kms., totalling 1,600,000 ha of arable land. The total acreage given over to olive is 358,000 ha, which makes Apulia the most important olive growing region of Italy. An annotated photographic exhibition illustrating the most peculiar and impressive Apulian olive traditional training systems is the topic of the present work.
