Abstract:
Three new olive cultivars are released in the frame of a cross-breeding programme started in 1971 by E. Bellini in Tuscany (Italy). They have been selected within the progeny of "Picholine x Manzanilla" once vegetatively propagated and analysed in three different Italian environments.
ARNO (formerly DOFI-OL. 037.027) is characterised by medium vigour and upright habit; the fruit weight is 6.2 g, with a flesh/stone ratio higher than 15, while the oil content is 12.5%. The skin colour changes from the last decade of September till the end of October.
TEVERE (formerly DOFI-OL.037.125) is characterised by medium vigour and upright habit; the fruit weight is 4.9 g, with a flesh/stone ratio equal to 12.5, while the oil content is about 15.2%. The skin colour changes from the last decade of September till the end of October.
BASENTO (formerly advanced selection DOFI-OL.037.135) is characterised by a medium-low vigour, semi-compact and upright habit; the fruit weight is 5.9 g, with a high flesh/stone ratio (>19), while oil content is 11%. The skin colour change ends in the second half of October.
