ISHS Acta Horticulturae 58: International Symposium on Vegetable Crops under Glass Protection

THE PREVENTION OF TOBACCO MOSAIC VIRUS INFECTIONS IN TOMATO AND PEPPER BY SOME CHEMICAL SUBSTANCES.

Authors:   T. BAICU, A. JILAVEANU
Abstract:
The trials conducted with 44 substances applied singly or as mixtures (surfactants, antibiotics, etc.) showed that they are able to inhibit the appearance of local lesion on the local lesion test plants.

In the control of Tobacco Mosaic Virus (TMV) in tomato, the highest effectiveness was obtained with foliar or root applications of a mixture of Emultin + Bla — S + DMSO.

The pepper variety Du Danube proved susceptible to these substances, although generally their effectiveness is highly satisfactory.

Soil desinfection was successfully achieved with dodecyl benzene sulfonate + polyalkylphenol residues.
