Abstract:
Sphagnum peat is commonly used in Poland as a growing medium for greenhouse tomatoes. Lime and complete fertilizers containing all macro-and micronutrients are added to sphagnum peat before planting.

Recently ash of brown coal has been easily availbale in Poland as a by-product of power stations.

The aim of this experiment was to investigate the possibilities of utilization of ash of brown coal as liming material and as a source of calcium, magnesium and some macroelements for greenhouse tomatoes grown in peat.
