Abstract:
A combination of fungicide treatments and cultural measures were applied to reduce the impact of late and early blight and anthracnose in two local tomato cvs, Unirea and L531. The experiment included four variants: (1) fungicide treatments every ten days + weed control and removal of infected fruits; (2) preventive chemical spraying according to water conditions: rain ≥ 2 l/m2/24 h or dew drop ≥ 2 h/24 h in an interval of 3-4 days + weed control and diseased fruit elimination; (3) curative chemical treatments after heavy rains (>2 l/m2) in a 3-4 days interval + weed and affected fruit elimination, and (4) untreated check (control). The preventive chemical treatments (1 and 2), weed control and elimination of diseased fruits reduced fungal attack by 81.0% in both cvs and yield losses by 65.3% (L531) and 66.5% (Unirea) in comparison with the control. The curative fungicide application (3) reduced diseases incidence by 38.0 - 39.9% and restricted losses by 30.2 - 45.5% (compared with the control).
