SUSCEPTIBILITY ASSESSMENT OF BEAN ACCESSIONS TO THREE CUCUMOVIRUS ISOLATES FROM BEAN (PH. VULGARIS L.)

Abstract:
A new virus seems to be widespread on beans in Bulgaria. Preliminary investigations indicated for a presence of Cucumovirus distantly related to subgroups I and II of Cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) and more closely related to Tomato aspermy (TAV) and Peanut stunt (PSV) viruses. The virus caused significant disturbances on bean plants expressed by severe mosaic, blisters, vein banding and stunting in the growth. From a breeding point of view screening tests including domestic bean accessions were carried out aimed to evaluate the reaction of Phaseolus vulgaris after inoculation to the three virus isolates. The influence of virus isolates using analysis of variance was assessed by using of biometrical parameters (plant height, mass and number of leaves). Statistically significant differences between infected variant and healthy control were determined for each accession. Thus, the level of susceptibility in every line was established.
