PHYSIOLOGICAL BEHAVIOUR OF TOMATO AND CUCUMBER PLANTS CAUSED BY DAY OR NIGHT HELIUM-NEON LASER IRRADIATION OF THEIR SEEDS

Authors:   V. Petkova, D. Cholakov
Keywords:   daily and night laser irradiation, radiobiological effect, physiological potential
Abstract:
Seeds of tomato cv. UC-82-A and cucumber cv. Pobeda F1 were irradiated with helium-neon laser during the day and during the night. The investigations were carried out under field conditions. It was established that in tomatoes, as a result of irradiation during the night, the photosynthetic intensity was increased by 10.7-12.2% in comparison with the irradiation during the day. The total quantity of dry phytomass per plant was increased too, by 7.6%. In cucumbers the night irradiation increased the photosynthetic intensity by 11.3-11.8% and the total dry phytomass by 5.7%.
