NEW VARIETIES OF GARDEN PEAS (PISUM SATIVA L.) IN YUGOSLAVIA

Abstract:
This work reviews two new Yugoslav cultivars of garden pea developed at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops in Novi Sad, Tamish and Vitez. Both of them are varietal hybrids released by the Federal Commission for Varietal Approval in 1999. The new cultivars had higher yield, quality and good health status than the standard cultivars in three-year trials of the Commission. They were also better that the standards with respect to most of the other characters under study, such as length of growing season, grain yield and plant height.
