Abstract:
Two months age of papaya plants were divided into two treatments, one was to spray mist on leaves at 16:00 for 10 days after transplanted and the other was control (un spraying). In leaf growth significant difference was not found between them.
However mist spraying increased weight of newly expanded root 23% than that of control plants.
The former two treatments were applied in papaya plants of two years age in a green house.
After the beginning of spraying, diurnal variations of photosynthesis (Pn), transpiration (Tr), stomatal conductance (Gs) and leaf water content (Wl) were measured.
Pn behavior had two types affected by weather difference.
In fine days, significant differences were not found in Pn, Tr, Gs and Wl between treatments.
In cloudy days, Pn in sprayed plants largely increases than in control ones.
In those cloudy days, Tr and/or Gs increased in sprayed plants than in control ones.
However, Pn and Wl had a reverse relation
