Abstract:
Psychrometric property of moist air is one of the fundamental issues involved in the fields of environmental control.
Traditionally, psychrometric charts are the tools to be used for engineers.
Theoretical and empirical equations were derived by previous researchers and computer software such as 'Psychrometric Look Up Subroutines (PLUS)' and 'Psychart' were developed by Professor Albright of Cornell University and Professors Fon and Fang of our Department, respectively.
All these software were implemented under DOS system of Microsoft.
With the advancement of computer technology, the DOS system is about to face out and most of the software developed under this operating system will be useless if not renewed.
The purpose of this study is to re-develop the 'Psychart' software under Microsoft's Windows operating system using 'MATLAB'. The MATLAB, product of The MathWorks, Inc., is scientific computing software for numerical computation, visualization and data analysis.
With the help of strong user interface subroutines provided by the 'Matlab', we can shortened the development time and provide to the students, researchers and engineers a digital psychrometric calculator as presented in this paper.
