Abstract:
The experiment was conducted during the period 1996-2000 in the fields of the Specialized Plum Laboratory in the town of Dryanovo with the following plum cultivars ‘Opal’, ‘Ontario’, ‘Malvazinka’, ‘Cacanska lepotica’, Tuleu timpuriu, ‘Althan’s gage’, ‘Mirabelle de Nancy’, ‘Renklod Hramovih’, ‘Pacific’, ‘Bluefre’, ‘Anna Spath’ and adding ‘Stanley’ as standard. The duration of the flowering was 6 days for cultivar ‘Opal’ and 10 days for cultivar ‘Ontario’ and ‘Mirabelle de Nancy’. The biggest crown volume was observed in the trees of ‘Malvazinka’. Cultivars ‘Malvazinka’ and Tuleu timpuriu had higher values for their trunk circumference while ‘Anna Spath’ and ‘Althan’s gage’ had lower ones.
The highest mean yield per hectare from the twelve plum cultivars investigated was produced by ‘Stanley’ and the lowest one by ‘Malvazinka’. The percentage of stone in respect to weight of the whole fruit was comparatively much higher in cultivars ‘Mirabelle de Nancy’, ‘Opal’, ‘Malvazinka’, ‘Ontario’, ‘Anna Spath’ and it was the smallest in cultivar ‘Renklod Hramovih’.
