"DOFI-GIUDY": A NEW EARLY RED JAPANESE PLUM

Authors:   E. Bellini, V. Nencetti
Keywords:   Prunus salicina, breeding program, cultivar
Abstract:
Originating from a 1989 cross between “Black Gold” and “Burmosa” and selected under the original seedling number “DOFI-89.030.058”, this plum is very attractive in appearance for its large size and shiny, bright red pigmentation. Blooming is very abundant and occurs very early, but fruit set and productivity are medium. It ripens in the fourth week of June in Central Italy, twenty-five days before “Burmosa”. Other main traits of “DOFI-GIUDY” are: large size of fruit, vivid red colour, good firmness and excellent flavour of flesh.
