Abstract:
In the frame of the plum cultivar breeding program 6 new cultivars of European plum ('Alina', 'Andreea', 'Bărăgan 17', 'Renclod de Caransebeş', 'Tita' and 'Vâlcean') were obtained and released during the last ten years.
- 'Alina' – has medium vigor, is male-sterile, fruit ripening takes place in the second half of August, has good productivity, large fruits (45g) for fresh consumption and processing.
It has important perspectives for extension in Romania.
- 'Andreea' – medium vigor, self-fertile, fruit ripening in the second half of August, it has resistance to Plum-pox, good productivity, the fruit has 35-38g and is suitable for drying (21% dry matter) but also for table use.

- 'Bărăgan 17' – medium vigor, self-sterile, fruit ripening in the first half of August, the fruit has 40-44g and the fruit can be used for table consumption and for processing.
- 'Renclod de Caransebeş' – medium vigor, partially self-fertile, fruit ripening in second half of August, good productivity, fruit is round and have 40-45g and of good quality.
- 'Tita' – medium-small vigor, male-sterile, fruit ripening takes place at end of July, beginning of August, productive, the fruit is around 50g, very good for fresh consumption.
- 'Vâlcean' – medium-large vigor, self-sterile, fruit ripening at end of July beginning of August, low productivity, very large fruits (more then 75g), and good for fresh consumption.
These cultivars are completing the actual plum cultivar assortment, especially in the sub-Carpathian areas of Romania
