Abstract:
The study was conducted to investigate the salt removal potential of some plants grown naturally in salt affected soils in two different areas (North East and North West) in Egypt.
Fifteen species were found and identified.
Salt content, soil physical and chemical properties were determined in spots representing the soil in general and around the plant roots.
Salt accumulations in the plants, salt removal capacity and nutrient content of the different plants/plant organs were determined.
The most efficient species in salt removing were Zygophyllum coccinium, followed by Zygophyllum simplex and Suaeda sp.
