Abstract:
- Medicinal Plant Garden Implementation for the Health Pastoral in the Tubarão Region, Santa Catarina State, Brazil
A medicinal plant garden for the health pastoral was implemented by a interdisciplinary group of UNISUL faculty to increase quality of life of community members in the south Santa Catarina region.The especies were selected after a diagnosis based on information from participants in the monthly meetings conducted by health pastoral agents and the interdisciplinary group faculty.
For each species monographs whith several information were issued.
These were distributed among the community members.
The flower beds received ecological treatment so as to include local existing species.
Botanic identification in wood labels were provided for each medicinal plant.
Health agents, students and faculty of the UNISUL agriculture program worked cooperatively in the project.
The implementation of medicinal garden indicated the importance for agricultural professionals to work cooperatively to improve life quality of local population.
