Abstract:
The University of Florida (UF) released ‘Rosa Linda’ in 1996, and ‘Earlibrite’ and ‘Strawberry Festival’ in 2000. ‘Rosa Linda’ produces high early season (Dec.- Feb.) yields of attractive, flavorful fruit, and has low susceptibility to Botrytis fruit rot. ‘Earlibrite’ also produces high early season yields, but has greater average fruit size and firmness than ‘Rosa Linda’. ‘Earlibrite’ fruit can be sensitive to rain, which results in a dull, seedy, or misshapen appearance.
The fruit of ‘Strawberry Festival’ is firm even when fully mature, and should be well suited for shipping and extended storage periods.
UF cultivars are recommended for trial in areas with mild winter climates.
