Abstract:
Selections originated by the CIV breeding program that have received high qualitative evaluations by breeders were subjected to sensory evaluation and to comparison with leading cultivars.
Quality assessment was performed by simple discrimination tests made by non trained consumers and by trained panelists.
From both kind of tests indications on quality of the new selections emerged that confirm the value of sensory evaluation to select for quality and to assess the potential acceptance of new varieties by the consumers.
