ISHS Acta Horticulturae 564: IV International Symposium on Mineral Nutrition of Deciduous Fruit Crops

EFFECT OF ROOTSTOCK AND SAMPLING DATE ON LEAF MINERAL COMPOSITION OF BEARING 'JONAGOLD' APPLE TREES

Authors:   E. Jadczuk, C.R. Wlosek-Stangret, A. Sadowski

Abstract:
The influence of rootstock upon leaf mineral composition of bearing ‘Jonagold’ apple trees was studied in the years 1997-1999. Leaves of ‘Jonagold’ grown on eight different rootstocks (P 22, P 16, P 2, P 60, P 14, M.26, M.9 German sub-clones 751 and 984) were sampled on six different dates (from 40 to 140 days after full bloom) and analysed for leaf N, K, Mg, Ca, and P concentrations. Leaf analysis showed that nutrient composition was affected by rootstock in some years. Generally, N and K concentrations decreased while Ca, Mg and P concentrations increased from the first to the last date of sampling.
