A METHOD FOR INTACT MEASUREMENT OF PLANT WATER STRESS

Authors:   K. Murakami, Y. Araki, T. Ishibasi
Keywords:   Leaf water potential ( L), Leaf chamber method, Sample chamber method, Pressure chamber method, Tomato
Abstract:
For the purpose of water management based on the leaf water potential (L),the leaf chamber method of the thermocouple psychrometer (T.P.) that is possible to measure non-destructively was compared with the sample chamber method of T.P. and the pressure chamber one in tomato plants in which growth and yield were largely influenced by water management. In conclusion, the leaf chamber method could be estimated available as a method of intact measurement of L because there was a high correlation among the three methods.
