Abstract:
In the presented experiment, the possibility to improve the multiplication rate of in vitro cultured tulips through induction of somatic embryogenesis in ovary tissues was investigated.
The best quality embryogenic callus was induced in primary explants isolated from ovary walls under influence of Picloram (25-50 mM). Embryos at the globular stage developed into torpedo stage under influence of BA and NAA. A high frequency of bulblets induction took place on the medium lacking growth regulators and containing 6 % of sucrose.
Cytological analysis did not reveal changes in chromosome number of regenerated plants.
This method of tulips regeneration in vitro is more efficient then methods known to date (regeneration from flower stems or bulb scales).
