Abstract:
Cut flower production of Dendranthema grandiflora is of commercial importance in southern Spain.
Greenhouse cultivation allows successive production from autumn to spring but crop management needs to be adapted to the seasonal changes in day length and light intensity.
The response of D. grandiflora cv. ‘Rhino’ to solar radiation was studied, analyzing the influence of total solar radiation on floral induction and ultimate flower quality in view of the morphological, physiological and agronomic data recorded.
Results show that total solar radiation affects all parameters with the exception of number of leaves produced.
