Abstract:
The tracer gas technique was used for the measurement of the infiltration rate of ‘parral-greenhouses’ as function of the external wind speed, and showed the lack of tightness greenhouse, specially under windy conditions.
The infiltration rate for low wind speed ( lower than 2 m s-1) was nearly 1,3 volumes per hour, while for a wind speed of 7 m s-1 the infiltration rate was as high as 6 volumes per hour.
The consequence is a loss of efficiency of heating or CO2 enrichment under these structures.
