Authors:   V. Galán Saúco, D. Fernández Galván, D.P.M. Hernández Delgado
Keywords:   Litchi chinensis, Spain, varietal evaluation
Abstract:
In order to evaluate the prospects of litchi cultivation in the Canary Islands, 19 cultivars were planted in June 1995 under dry subtropical conditions in the southwest of the island of Tenerife. Phenological and production (yield and quality) parameters are currently being studied. Preliminary data show good vegetative development for all the cultivars except ‘Wai Chee’, higher precocity for ‘Yu Her Pan’ and ‘Early Large Red’, and higher yield for ‘Lenz’, ‘Calcuttia Late’ and ‘Brewster’.
