Abstract:
Shoots and leaves of longan are injured by sap-sucking nymphs and adults of Cornegenapsylla sinica. Effects of feeding on the activities of metabolic enzymes and antioxidants in leaves were studied. The activities of metabolic enzymes and antioxidants decreased. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), peroxidase (POD) and catalase (CAT) decreased by 26, 28 and 27%, respectively, while that of the reduced glutathione (GSH) and ascorbic acid (AsA) decreased by 11 and 8%. The decreased capacity to eliminate active oxygen induced peroxidation of membrane lipoids and the loss of cell membrane integrity.
