Abstract:
The zymograms of POX (peroxidase) isozyme from shoots changed during the sexual differentiation of litchi and longan.
There was no difference in their zymograms until sexual differentiation.
Staminate flower had more isozyme bands than pistillate flower.
There were also differences between longan and litchi.
Litchi had two more bands (A, C) once flowers were initiated.
Seven new bands (H-N) was detected in staminate flower, while zymograms from pistillate flower were similar to those of the vegetative shoots.
In longan, however, flowering was accompanied by disappearance of some isozymes, so that there were fewer bands than in vegetative shoots.
