ISHS Acta Horticulturae 553: IV International Conference on Postharvest Science

EFFECTS AND INTERACTIONS OF ETHYLENE AND ABSCISIC ACID IN DETACHED AND INTACT MINIATURE ROSE FLOWERS

Authors:   R. Mueller, A.S. Andersen, M. Serek, B.M. Stummann
Keywords:   ABA, ETR homologs, flower senescence, postharvest, Rosa hybrida
Abstract:
Differences in postharvest quality of miniature roses (Rosa hybrida L.) can partly be explained by differences in endogenous ethylene and/or sensitivity to exogenous ethylene. Flower senescence in two model plants was accompanied by a climacteric rise in ethylene production, and at the same time these cultivars differed in flower life (Müller et al., 1998). The involvement of ABA in flower senescence and leaf drop was examined and the interaction of ABA and ethylene was analyzed.
