COMPOUNDS INTERACTING WITH THE ETHYLENE RECEPTOR

Authors:   E.C. Sisler, E. Dupille, M. Serek, R. Goren
Keywords:   Cyclopropenes, ethylene, ethylene agonists, ethylene antagonists, ethylene receptor, ethylene responses, inhibitors.
Abstract:
Some cyclopropenes bind with the ethylene receptor and prevent an ethylene response. A single 24 hour exposure to less than 0.5 nl/l is required in some cases. Others require much higher concentrations. Some render the plant insensitive for 3, 5, 7, 12 and as long as 25 days. The effect of substitution on cyclopropene activity is discussed. These parameters are being used as a model for developing new compounds. The compounds also can be used to radiolabel the receptor (Sisler, 1991).
