Abstract:
“Bianca” and “First Red” varieties were cultivated on three substrates (cocopeat, perlite-cocopeat 3:1 and perlite:zeolite 3:1) in an open soilless culture system to determine the yield and flower quality responses.
Difference in yield and flower quality were observed between the two varieties and among the three substrates used.
The “Bianca” variety demonstrated a better yield when grown on the mixtures of perlite:cocopeat and perlite:zeolite, whereas the “First Red” variety showed more prospering flower quality when grown on cocopeat or a cocopeat:perlite mixture.
No significant differences were found among plants grown on different substrates for the physiological parameters measured
