ISHS Acta Horticulturae 547: III International Symposium on Rose Research and Cultivation

IDENTIFICATION OF APOMICTIC PLANTS IN ROSA HYBRIDA L. BY AFLPs

Authors:   L. Crespel, D. Zhang, J. Meynet, Y. Jacob, S. Gudin
Keywords:   apomixis, amplified fragment length polymorphism, Rosa hybrida L.
Abstract:
We obtained some rose plants with a phenotype identical to that of their female parent. One tetraploid plant was issued from an induced parthenogenetic process. Four plants were issued from an hybridization program between a parthenogenetic diploid Rosa hybrida L. used as the female parent and three botanic species (R. multiflora Thunb. ex Murr., R. gigantea Collet ex Crép. and R. wichuraiana Crép.) used as male parents. The Amplified Fragment Length Polymorphism (AFLP) analysis sometimes confirmed the apomictic origin of these genotypes.
