Abstract:
Fifty-three red and white Vitis vinifera wine grape accessions, chosen for similarities of growing district or morphological features from central northern Italy, were selected for genetic analysis employing the six microsatellite loci VVS1, VVS2, VVS5, VVS29, VVS16 and VVMD7. The resulting data made it possible to characterise all the accessions and to evaluate the discriminating power of the 6 microsatellite markers, three of which appear to be sufficient to separate all the varieties.
The data were also employed to assess the genetic relationships among the cultivars via two distinct approaches: " µ" (delta mu) and “fuzzy set similarity”. The cultivar clustering shown by the “fuzzy set” dendrogram appears to better match the geographical distribution of the varieties.
