Abstract:
Drip irrigation is widely used in the production of processing tomatoes in Australia.
During the 1999/2000 season, 49% of the area planted was drip irrigated.
Half the drip-irrigated crops were direct seeded and half transplanted.
Drip lines are typically buried to a depth of 15-20cm in 1.5m wide raised beds around 200metres long.
Emitter spacing is normally between 30 and 45cm, and seasonal water applications under drip can vary from 4 - 8 Ml/ha depending on soil-type, management strategy and weather conditions.
